A native of the lively Southwest Atlanta neighborhood affectionately known as “The SWATS,” is a proud graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School. He continued his education at Claflin University in South Carolina, earning a degree in Sports Management. Deeply connected to his Atlanta roots and driven by a passion for storytelling, Derek channels his life experiences and dedication to inspiring others into his creative work. His “Not Your Typical Children’s Book” series embodies his commitment to fostering courage, bravery, and the celebration of individuality in children around the world.
